Students of political science examine the theory and practice of government and politics. They acquire knowledge of political institutions and processes and learn to think critically about public policies and their consequences. They learn how to evaluate individual, group, and mass behavior in political settings.

Because of their understanding and interest in political systems, students who earn degrees in political science enter such career fields as government service, law, business, journalism, politics, public policy analysis, and education.
